What is an advanced tree?
An advanced tree is a mature specimen that has been grown on in progressively larger containers for 3-8 years before sale. Where a typical retail-size tree might be in a 25-50L pot at 1m tall, an advanced tree is in a 150L+ pot at 2m+ tall, with a fully developed root system and an established canopy.
How big are advanced trees when they arrive?
- 150L-200L pot: typically 2-2.5m tall, instant front-yard feature
- 300L-400L pot: typically 2.5-3.5m tall, mature canopy already forming
- 500L-800L pot: typically 3-4m tall, equivalent to ~5 years of growth from a small tree
- 1000L-2000L pot: typically 4-5m+ tall, full-mature specimen — the closest thing to "transplanting an existing tree"
Are advanced trees worth the price?
For most projects, yes. The price premium reflects 3-8 years of professional growing. If you're staging a property for sale, building a new home and don't want to look at a paddock for 5 years, or landscaping a commercial project on a deadline — advanced trees pay for themselves in time saved and instant value added. For patient gardeners with no rush, smaller stock will get you to the same place eventually.
