About Your New Hymenosporum flavum - Native Frangipani
Hymenosporum flavum carries clusters of intensely fragrant flowers through spring and summer that open cream and age to deep gold, scenting an entire garden from a single tree. It is one of the most strongly perfumed Australian natives in cultivation.
The Native Frangipani grows to 8 to 15 metres tall and 4 to 6 metres wide at 0.6 to 1 metre per year, developing a slender upright habit when young that broadens into an open layered canopy with age. Glossy dark green foliage and a relatively narrow footprint make it well suited to street planting and courtyards.
This is an Australian native that grows in full sun across a wide range from tropical Queensland through coastal New South Wales, Melbourne and Adelaide. It prefers well-drained soil with consistent moisture through establishment and needs little maintenance once away.
