Gleditsia triacanthos 'Sunburst', known as Sunburst Honeylocust, is a stunning deciduous tree celebrated for its vibrant golden lime-yellow new foliage that matures to soft green in summer and turns rich golden-yellow in autumn. Reaching 12–18 meters tall with a broad, open pyramidal to oval canopy up to 15 meters wide, it offers a delicate, filtered light effect ideal for shade and high-impact planting in parks, streetscapes, and gardens.
This versatile tree features fine-textured, fern-like leaves, inconspicuous spring flowers, and occasional seed pods. Thriving in full sun to part shade and adapting well to various well-drained soils, Sunburst Honeylocust is moderately drought-tolerant once established. Its low-maintenance nature and tolerance to urban pollution, compacted soils, and wind make it an excellent choice for designers seeking beauty, structure, and resilience in landscape projects.
