About Your New Acer palmatum dissectum 'Orangeola' - Weeping Japanese Maple
Acer palmatum dissectum 'Orangeola' is a deciduous Japanese maple with a low, mounding habit and finely dissected, lace-like foliage. New foliage opens orange-red in spring, transitions to bronze-green through summer, and develops deep scarlet to crimson tones in autumn before defoliation. The cascading branches build a layered, weeping canopy over time.
Performs best in part shade with shelter from harsh afternoon sun and drying wind. Prefers moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil with a layer of mulch to keep root conditions cool. Frost tolerant once established and suited to cool temperate through warm temperate gardens. Light pruning may be used to remove crossing branches but is rarely required.
They look excellent in courtyards, raised beds, formal entry plantings, and large decorative containers where the cascading form can fall freely. Suited to residential and commercial Japanese-style or contemporary garden schemes, and commonly specified where year-round structure and reliable seasonal colour are required.
