Crassula ovata ‘Shrek’s Ears’, commonly known as Shrek’s Ears Jade, is a unique evergreen succulent prized for its unusual upright tubular foliage that resembles the ears of the famous animated character. The bright green leaves form a dense architectural shrub, creating a striking focal point in succulent collections, containers, and contemporary gardens.
It performs best in full sun to partial shade and free-draining soils, adapting exceptionally well to coastal conditions, dry climates, and low-maintenance landscapes. Once established, Shrek’s Ears Jade develops excellent drought tolerance and requires very little ongoing care. The unusual foliage shape provides year-round interest even when the plant is not in flower.
They look excellent when used as feature plants, in decorative containers, succulent gardens, courtyards, rockeries, and waterwise landscapes where distinctive foliage and architectural form are desired. Mature plants may also produce clusters of small white to pale pink flowers during winter.
