About Westringia ‘Wynyabbie Blue’ – Wynyabbie Blue Coastal Rosemary
Westringia ‘Wynyabbie Blue’ is a hardy Australian native shrub selected for its fine foliage and showy lilac-blue flowers. It forms a dense, rounded habit with narrow grey-green leaves similar in appearance to true rosemary. From spring through autumn, it produces masses of soft lilac-blue flowers that stand out against the foliage, often flowering for much of the year in mild climates. Mature plants typically grow 1.5–2 metres tall and 1.5–2 metres wide, though they can be clipped smaller if required.
This cultivar has a moderate growth rate and thrives in full sun to part shade. It is highly tolerant of coastal conditions, including salt-laden winds and sandy soils, and is frost hardy once established. Westringia ‘Wynyabbie Blue’ is drought tolerant and low maintenance, requiring only occasional pruning to maintain its dense shape. It is evergreen, resilient, and suited to a wide range of garden conditions.
They look excellent when clipped into low hedges, used as screens, or planted in mass groupings in coastal and native gardens. They are also well suited for embankments, driveways, or as mixed plantings where year-round colour and hardy structure are valued.
