PLANT PROFILE

Acmena smithii minor ‘Hot Flush’, known as Hot Flush Lilly Pilly, is a fast-growing, compact evergreen shrub prized for its vibrant copper-red new growth that matures to glossy green. Reaching 2–3 meters tall and 1–1.5 meters wide, it offers year-round structure and color, making it perfect for hedging, screening, and topiary in both residential and commercial landscapes.

This dense, upright shrub thrives in full sun to part shade and adapts to various well-drained soils. It’s low maintenance, responds well to pruning, and is resistant to psyllid pests. Ideal for formal or informal hedges, narrow spaces, and low-maintenance garden designs, ‘Hot Flush’ adds striking seasonal contrast and reliable performance in urban, coastal, and inland settings.

Planting Tips: Ensuring a Strong Start

Site Selection: Choose a location with full sun to part shade and well-drained soil.

Digging the Hole: Make the hole twice as wide as the root ball but no deeper.

Planting: Position the plant so the top of the root ball is at ground level. Backfill with native soil and water thoroughly.

Mulching: Apply a 5–7 cm layer of mulch around the base to retain moisture and suppress weeds, keeping mulch away from the trunk.

Watering: Provide regular watering during establishment; once established, water during extended dry periods.

Use this as a reference when digging your planting hole. We recommend digging at least 10% wider than the dimensions below to encourage strong root development.
