Populus euramericana x nigra 'Crows Nest', or Crows Nest Poplar, is a striking fastigiate tree prized for its narrow, upright form and rapid growth. Reaching around 18 meters tall with a slim 5-meter spread, it’s perfect for windbreaks, tall screens, or where space is limited but vertical impact is desired.
They look excellent when planted as formal screens or avenue trees, offering a neat, compact outline that serves as a superb alternative to the Lombardy Poplar. Its glossy, triangular mid-green leaves with purple petioles add subtle seasonal colour, turning to dull yellow in autumn.
This tree adapts well to various soils, thrives in full sun, and displays moderate drought tolerance once established. Maintenance is low, requiring regular watering only during establishment to ensure healthy growth.
