About Your New OLD STONE - Saigon Pot
The Old Stone Saigon Pot has a rounded body that draws in to a broad rim, made in the same shapes as the Oceanic White range but finished differently. The surface is sandblasted to a rustic texture with deep earthy tones. Three sizes are made, from D45cm x H42cm to D70cm x H61cm.
The sandblasted texture hides marks well, which is useful in a working garden or a busy entry where a smooth finish shows every knock. Earthy tones sit comfortably in full sun and weather in gracefully. Keep the base draining freely so water is not held against the bottom of the pot.
It suits a courtyard, a terrace, a pool surround or a commercial entry where a softer, aged look is wanted rather than a crisp contemporary one. Plant it with an olive, a clipped bay or buxus, a frangipani, or a full head of succulents. A pair either side of steps works well.
Frequently Asked Questions
About Old Stone Saigon Pot
What is the Old Stone finish?
It is a sandblasted textured finish that gives the pot a rustic surface with deep earthy tones. Blasting the surface opens up the texture rather than leaving it smooth, so the pot reads as weathered stone from the day it arrives. The Saigon shape is shared with the Oceanic White range.
What sizes does the Saigon Pot come in?
Three sizes are made: D70cm x H61cm, D55cm x H48cm and D45cm x H42cm. The proportions are consistent, so a graduated group of all three sits together well. The largest suits a standard tree or a substantial topiary, while the smallest works either side of a door or along a step.
Does the colour vary between pots?
It does. The sandblasted finish is applied to each pot individually and the earthy tones shift from piece to piece, so finishes may vary from the pot shown in the photograph. Across a group this reads as natural variation in stone. If you want a close match, order the group together.
Can it be used indoors?
Yes. The rustic finish suits an entry hall, a light filled room or a commercial foyer just as well as a courtyard. Indoors, stand the pot on a saucer or leave the plant in a liner so water cannot reach the floor, and put felt pads underneath to protect timber.
Will the texture show marks?
Less than a smooth finish will. The sandblasted surface breaks up light and hides scuffs, splashes and the general marks a pot picks up in a working garden. What does show, mostly soil splash and mineral residue, brushes off with soapy water and a soft brush.
What plants suit it?
The rounded shape and earthy tone suit Mediterranean planting. Olives, bay, rosemary, lavender and clipped buxus all look right. Frangipani, agaves, aloes and mixed succulents also work, particularly in a hot courtyard. In the D70cm size you can carry a small feature tree with a free draining potting mix.
How do I clean and care for it?
Wash it with mild soapy water and a soft bristle brush or a rag, working with the texture rather than scrubbing hard. Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasives. Keep the drainage clear, and sit the pot on feet where it stands on paving so water can escape from beneath after rain.
