NEW BALCONY LITE RANGE - DRUM - WHITE

It is made from Poly Fibre Stone, a mixture of poly resin, stone powder and adhesives, with a fibre mat running through it to strengthen the body and connect the layers. The exterior is painted in a durable matt finish. There is no cement of any type in the product.

Four sizes are made: D70cm x H70cm at about 13kg, D60cm x H60cm, D50cm x H50cm and D40cm x H40cm. All four share the same drum proportion, so they group neatly. The 13kg figure for the largest size gives a fair sense of how light the whole range is.

Because weight is the point. With no cement in the mixture, these pots are extremely light for their size, which makes them suitable for balcony gardens, podium planting and rooftops where a load limit applies. They are also easy for one person to reposition when a layout needs rethinking.

Yes. Although the drums are strong for their weight, they are not recommended for planting directly with bamboo, strelitzia or other vigorously rooted plants, which can push against the walls over time. Those are better suited to thicker, heavier duty planters. Everything less aggressive is fine.

The pots are painted in a durable matt finish made for the job. As with any painted surface, treat it gently: clean with mild soapy water and a soft brush or rag, and keep harsh chemicals and abrasives away, since scrubbing will mark matt paint. Finishes may vary slightly from the photograph.

The drum shape takes a clipped buxus or ficus ball, a standard olive, a dwarf citrus, a slim conifer or a full planting of succulents and grasses. In the D70cm size a small feature tree will sit happily. Use a free draining quality potting mix and water well through summer.

Use mild soapy water and a soft bristle brush or a rag, then rinse and let it dry. Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasives on the matt paint. In a windy balcony position, add some weight low in the pot, since a light planter with a tall plant can go over.
