Contemporary U Planter - Panther

It is a medium weight composite planter. The material sits between the two extremes most buyers know: lighter than concrete or ceramic, so it can be moved and lifted onto a terrace, but more substantial than fibreglass, so it feels solid and stays put once planted. It is made for outdoor use.

Six sizes are made: D112cm x H92cm at about 80kg, D90cm x H75cm at about 65kg, D75cm x H63cm at about 45kg, D63cm x H53cm at about 35kg, D50cm x H42cm at about 20kg, and D40cm x H34cm at about 15kg. Weights are approximate and given empty.

The natural finish is a light cement grey. Pigmented Charcoal and White Cement are also available. Beyond those, fine stone paint finishes can be applied in the warehouse, which are completely matt and made to hold up outdoors. Finishes may vary slightly from the planter shown in the photograph.

Yes. The composite body is made for outdoor landscape use and copes with sun, wind and rain. The stone paint finishes applied in the warehouse are matt and formulated for outdoor exposure. Make sure the planter drains freely so water does not sit in the base against the roots of the plant.

They can. The range is used on commercial landscape projects where a standard size does not fit the setting, and custom planters can be sized to suit a specific brief. It helps to have the finished opening, the depth available and the planting in mind before the sizing conversation starts.

The planter itself runs from about 15kg to about 80kg empty. Add potting mix, water and a plant and the largest sizes become a two person or trolley job, so decide the final position before filling. On terraces and roof decks, check the structural load allowance before placing the bigger sizes.

Use mild soapy water and a soft bristle brush, a nail brush is about right, to lift marks from the surface. Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasives, which will scour the finish. Rinse afterwards. Keep the drainage clear, and where the planter sits on paving, feet will stop staining underneath.
