About Banksia Ericafolia

Banksia ericifolia – Heath-leaved Banksia is a striking Australian native shrub known for its vivid cylindrical flower spikes and fine, needle-like foliage. Flowering from late summer into autumn, it produces orange to red blooms that attract birds, bees, and other pollinators, making it a valuable addition to wildlife-friendly gardens.

Reaching 2–6 metres high and 2–5 metres wide, this upright, bushy shrub suits both large and compact spaces. It thrives in full sun, tolerates coastal exposure, and adapts to a wide range of soil types, including sandy and poor soils. Once established, Banksia ericifolia – Heath-leaved Banksia is moderately drought-tolerant and requires only occasional pruning to maintain shape.

Whether planted as a feature, in mixed native borders, or as part of a coastal or low-maintenance landscape, it delivers texture, colour, and ecological value throughout the year.
