About Your New Lagerstroemia indica 'Zuni' Magenta Pink Crepe Myrtle
Lagerstroemia indica 'Zuni' is the most compact of the popular crepe myrtle cultivars, producing masses of vivid magenta to lavender-purple flower panicles from early summer through autumn. The deep flower colour, glossy summer foliage and bright red autumn finish give Zuni Crepe Myrtle a long, layered season of visual interest in a small footprint.
Zuni grows to 3-4 metres tall and 2-3 metres wide with a tidy rounded form. The size suits small gardens, courtyard features, mixed borders, and patio planting, and the smooth exfoliating bark provides quiet winter interest once leaves drop.
Highly drought and heat tolerant once established, Zuni performs reliably across most Australian climates in full sun and well-drained soils. It is one of the easiest small flowering trees to grow and one of the most colour-intense crepe myrtles available.
Zuni, Sioux or Natchez? All three are Lagerstroemia indica cultivars at different sizes and colours. Zuni is the most compact at 3-4m with deep magenta-purple blooms, ideal for small gardens. Sioux is the mid-size pick at 4-5m with vivid fuchsia-pink blooms. Natchez is the tallest at 6-8m with pure white blooms, suited to avenues and larger gardens. Choose by size first, then flower colour.
