Traditional Egg Pot Wide Lip - Natural Cement Evergreen Trees Direct

About Your New Traditional Egg Pot Wide Lip - Natural Cement

The Traditional Egg Pot Wide Lip in Natural Cement is an egg shaped planter with a pronounced rolled lip at the rim, from the Geo Rok collection. The natural cement finish is plain and unfussy, and the wide lip gives the classical shape a heavier, more traditional line than the plain egg.

It is made from glass fibre reinforced cement, about twice as strong as fibre glass and much lighter than solid concrete. GFRC resists UV and water penetration, so the pot stays outdoors permanently without the wall drawing up moisture. The largest size weighs 80kg, the smallest around 14kg empty.

Three sizes are made, so the same shape can run from a doorway pot to a forecourt feature. It suits formal gardens, hotel entries, courtyards and pool surrounds. Plant it with a clipped standard, an advanced olive, a magnolia or a topiary ball where a traditional profile is called for.

Frequently Asked Questions

About Traditional Egg Pot Wide Lip

What sizes and weights are available?

Three sizes are made: D112cm x H92cm with a 55cm base at 80kg, D90cm x H75cm with a 43cm base at 44kg and holding roughly 250 litres, and D63cm x H53cm with a 30cm base at 14kg. Weights are given empty and are approximate.

What is the pot made from?

Glass fibre reinforced cement, or GFRC. It is around twice as strong as fibre glass while remaining much lighter than solid concrete, and it resists both UV and water penetration. That combination is what allows large landscape containers to be made in a natural cement finish without becoming immovable.

What does the wide lip do?

It is a design detail rather than a function. The rolled lip thickens the line at the rim and gives the egg a more traditional, classical profile, where the plain egg reads as contemporary. It also gives a visual edge that suits formal planting and older architecture.

How much potting mix will it hold?

The D90cm x H75cm size holds approximately 250 litres. The D112cm size takes considerably more and the D63cm size much less. Buy enough quality free draining potting mix to fill the pot in one go, and allow for it to settle by a few centimetres after the first deep watering.

Is it suitable for commercial landscaping?

Yes. The Geo Rok collection is used across both light and heavy duty commercial and domestic landscape projects and copes with most reasonable wear and tear. Where the treatment is genuinely extreme, such as an exposed loading area, steel or heavy concrete remains the better choice.

What planting suits this shape?

The classical profile asks for formal planting. Clipped buxus or ficus balls, standard bay trees, advanced olives, magnolias and topiary cones all sit well. In the D112cm size, a feature tree with underplanting of mondo or dwarf grasses works. Keep the planting symmetrical if the pots are used as a pair.

How do I care for it?

Lift marks with mild soapy water and a soft bristle brush such as a nail brush, then rinse the surface. Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasives. Make sure the drainage stays clear so water is not sitting in the base, and use pot feet on paving to let moisture escape underneath.
