Pittosporum tenuifolium 'Green Pillar' is an elegant evergreen shrub prized for its narrow, upright columnar shape and dense, glossy dark green foliage. Growing typically 3 to 4 meters tall and 0.5 to 1 meter wide, it’s perfect for adding vertical structure in gardens, narrow spaces, or as a formal hedge.
It produces small, inconspicuous flowers in late spring to early summer, followed by woody seed capsules. This low-maintenance plant thrives in full sun to part shade and tolerates drought, salt spray, and a variety of soil types, provided they are well-drained. While pruning isn’t necessary, it can be trimmed to maintain a neat form.
Ideal for hedging, screening, and container planting, 'Green Pillar' establishes best with regular watering in the first year and moderate drought tolerance thereafter. Plant spacing should be 1 to 2 meters apart to allow healthy growth and airflow.
