The Acacia melanoxylon – Blackwood Acacia is a fast-growing evergreen tree (6–30m H × 4–10m W) with a tall, upright trunk and dense canopy of dark green phyllodes. It looks excellent in large native gardens, rural shelterbelts, and public landscapes where height, structure, and durability are required. Creamy-yellow spherical flowers appear in spring to early summer, offering subtle seasonal interest.
Acacia melanoxylon – Blackwood Acacia thrives in full sun, handles clay, loam, or sandy soils, and tolerates low fertility, frost, and moderate drought. Commonly used for erosion control, windbreaks, and timber production. Suitable for revegetation projects, biodiversity corridors, and large-scale planting.
Low-maintenance and highly adaptable, this is a proven performer across temperate and cool regions. Best spaced at 5–7m for canopy development and airflow.
